Helmet sizing and Fitment Guide

Please note a correctly fitted helmet should feel as if an evenly distributed pressure is continuously being exerted around the head and cheeks. Helmets, like shoes, will break in. For this reason, the helmet should fit as tight as you can stand to wear it. Once fastened, make sure the helmet cannot be pulled off of the head in any direction. If the helmet moves significantly, the helmet is too big. First time helmet buyers tend to choose helmets that are too loose or too big. If the helmet does not fit well, it cannot deliver the level of protection you need.

Matrix helmets are only certified for a selected activity. They should therefore only be used for that sport or activity.

You can only paint helmet that is constructed from fibreglass, otherwise solvents in paint may damage the shell.

We generally recommend that you replace a helmet every three years. However, should you be uncertain as to whether your helmet needs replacing or what its current condition is, please e-mail us at [email protected] regarding a free inspection.

If the helmet is visibly damaged (cracked outer shell, crushed or cracked foam liner or any other damage) we strongly advise not to use it. When the helmet undergoes an impact, some or all of the protection that it offers can be used up, but this may or may not be visible. If you have any questions, please e-mail us at [email protected] .

Allow the helmet to dry in the air after use and then keep it stored in a cool, dry place and if you are not going to use it for some time, in its original box. Make sure that this is a location where it will not be damaged (for example but having things fall on it). Please note that helmets can be damaged by excessive heat, such ab through being left under the back window of a car or in direct sunlight in a bag. Heat damage may appear on helmets ad be shown through an uneven or ‘bubble-like’ surface.

Cleaning Your Helmet
The materials that helmets are made from can be damaged by commonly available cleaners, notably those that are petroleum-based. If these types of cleaners are used they can reduce the protective capabilities of the helmet, often in ways where the damage is not visible. We recommend using warm water and a mild soap (for example, hand soap) to clear the helmet, applied with a soft cloth or sponge. Lice
Lice can be a problem, especially for children or for people who share helmets. If you are concerned, a simple way to get rid of lice is as follows: Step 1 – Do not use any spray Step 2 – Put the helmet in an airtight plastic bag for 48 hours. After this, remove the pads and clean the surface (as above, using warm water, mild soap and a cloth/sponge.) Step 3 – Discard the pads and plastic bag safety (keeping out of reach of children) and visit your local Matrix supplier for replacement pads or e-mail us at [email protected] for replacement pads.

Any DOT certified helmets listed on our website are not legal to use on the UK or EU roads , we cannot be responsible for any consequences caused by Using helmets on the road.

We are concerned for your safety and continually look to advance the protection our helmets offer. Should your helmet be involved in an accident, it is possible that you may be able to get a credit toward a new Matrix helmet. To see if this is possible, please first email us at [email protected] After this and confirmation from us, please send us:
a. Your damaged helmet
